The Environmental Learning Research Centre at Rhodes University

To mark its 20th year of engagement on Environmental Education, Rhodes established on 2010 the Environmental Learning Research Centre (ELRC). ELRC mission is to promote a culture of respect of the environment by educating people. “Environmental Education as a process of social change”. Another ELRC’s main goal is set down a theoretical basis to the environmental policy. That is why it has an “active research programme, with 16 PhD and 33 Masters students currently registered, and with a throughput rate in the Masters programme of 85%”.  ELRC tries to translate into “real-world situations, creating sustainable solutions for communities”. It organizes seminars, courses, and diplomas according to the needs of learners.
